FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Game at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch on 7 November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
